I honestly have no idea how the overall production numbers break down but I'd be terribly interested in verifiable data if for nothing else than to satisfy my own curiousity. Frankly, I'm betting that one of the MLSB's occupies the number one position likely to be followed by the Fu Manchu 65R as the number 2. The SS22 is still a pretty new model and may yet be developing a devoted customer base -- probably too soon for any definitive data. They are in fact moving at my local GC according an acquaintance who manages the store.

4) They're the same price, but with the DRRI, if you want to play overdriven at low volumes, you'll have to spend another $50 at least on a pedal.

My experience with 3 different Supersonic 22's indicates that if you want to play "hissless" at lower volumes......well... you can't....

Maybe I should invest in a Vox just to peel me away from these threads.... :?

Through the store, we have never had a problem with any of our SS's....

We also have never had a problem with our DRRI's either....

Maybe its just luck of the draw, but what do i know? I'm just a simple salesclerk...

Probably just luck. Fender's QC has been sort of slack lately. Especially or the amp lines. It's a shame, but I guess when you build stuff all over the world it's easy to get away from you.

Very true. 8) We were a small store anyways, so we wouldn't get nearly as many amps a a large chain store would... So our probability of getting a lemon was less likely.

in other news we did get some pawn shop series in, and I was very impressed. Gorgeous guitars, and now I'm split between my next possible purchases: SS 22, DRRI, Mustang Special, '72, or (this is the big one) the new Vox Night Train 50W.... Must... pick... one...

Choices, you gotta love it. This past weekend I was in Sam Ash just looking around, tried a Gibson Studio LP 60's Tribute with P-90's in Honeyburst and walked out the store with it. It was a good price and the workmanship was outstanding. I haven't played real P-90's in years and this was pretty sweet. I didn't have my amp so I plugged into a DRRI. It sounded incredible. It's the second guitar I've bought in two months. I've gotta stay out of music stores.

From your lips to God's ear!

I drop a C-note every time I do some simple "window shopping"!

 I know Arjay. Before these two, the last time I bought a new guitar was around 1995.
I just couldn't pass up the P-90's. The thing is, I really don't like the Studio's that much. Could never bond with the neck. That Gibby 60's neck is just so comfortable, then add the P-90's and out comes the wallet. It was only around $850 and the Honeyburst faded doesn't look bad at all. When I get a little free time in the studio I'll have to photograph it.

So, I found a used DRRI at guitar center in great condition (minus the indicator light bulb being burned out). So I returned the Super Sonic and got that + a TS9. I must say, I think I am enjoying the DRRI a bit more than I was the SS22.

I did get incredibly sidetracked while shopping. This Guitar Center had on hand a 1972 twin reverb and a 1957 Vibrolux! Neither sounded very good but they were fun to mess with!

........ ??? Didn't you originally trade a DRRI for a SuperSonic 22 ..... ??? I'm confused (which ain't nothin' new....)

i own both.
the SS22 does pretty much what the DRRI does, just not quite as good.
when you play with your drummer, you won't notice that much....

the DRRI needs a pedal to do what the SS22 can do....

I don't really need a high gain choice, so the DRRI is best for me. I use my guitar VOL. for leads.
IF i did need high gain channel, and did NOT want pedal, it would be the SS22.

BOTH amps will ROCK on the "clean" channel tho~

set amp vol to 6-10 and just use the guitar volume knob......

i really like both amps, i have changed tubes several times on both amps and have gotten really great tone from both!!!
after changing preamp tubes, the HISS from MY SS22, does NOT come thru when you are in a band sit. - NONE at all.
So i really am happy from BOTH

Howard, the pilot lamp resides in a spring-loaded socket and is held in place by a pair of apposed lugs at the bottom of the bulb's base. It doesn't require any special tools to remove or install -- you merely twist the bulb while simultaneously pushing down on it and the bulb pops loose. Reverse this procedure to install the replacement.

You may have changed amps (again) but I hope you keep that green guitar.

She's a beaut!

Rawk on!
