Bought a brand new Fender Frontman 212R yesterday evening.

Turned it on for the 1st time just a couple hours ago and the reverb doesn't work.

Do you have to be in drive or more drive to get the reverb to work?

amp sounds the same at "1" or "10"

Or do I have a brand new defective amp?

Thanks!

You have a brand new defective amp.

Return it to the store for exchange.

That's exactlly the news I was afraid to hear :)

Bought the amp at Sam Ash music store. I got the last non demo amp they had, and they have another one on order for me.

I must say, I am real impressed with the customer service of Sam Ash.

On a side note, up untill yesterday I was seriously thinking about picking up a Gibson SG Standard as a 2nd guitar.

As soon as I had that thing in my arms, I changed my mind. It felt like a toy.

Just to used to the feel and weight of an older American made Strat.

Well, sorta old... I bought it new in 1985

"Old" is good.

Of my dozen Fender amps, none of them is younger than 1980 except for two first-year re-issues, with most of the collection dating to the '60s and '70s. I just can't afford the aggravation and drama of a new (or newer) amp.

If I was in charge of QC at FMIC, the unemployment rate would be slightly higher. :? It seems to be an ongoing trend lately.

The FM line must be Fender's study in how long it takes loyal customers to leave to another brand due to lack of quality. I can't for the life of me figure out how, from a business perspective, Fender can still be letting these pieces of garbage leave their facility bearing their name.

Today my replacement FM will arrive at the store. I'll pick it up tomorrow at lunch time and THIS time, I will check all functions before putting the thing in my car.

If the reverb does not work, I'll just skip getting a new amp entirelly and expedite having my Bassman 50 head rebuilt.

This will be my 3rd attempt at getting the FM 212R

The 1st one was sent from China to Fender in Ca. Then to Austin Bazaar in Texas, then to Amazon in Arizona and then to Orlando, Fl.

Then the UPS driver - in front of me - picked up the box and threw it off the truck and onto a loading dock. The thing was pretty beat. Box was so badly ripped up, you could see the amp and styrofoam packaging was falling out.

For some strange reason, Austin Bazaar (great adverb) thinks shipping the amp with a chorus pedal floating around under the speakers is ok.

2nd amp was the one I recently bought at the guitar shop.

But anyhow...I bought this amp solely because of Fender's past reputation, the output of the amp (100W), it looked good (looks like a twin reverb) and a price under $300.

I own a 1983 Strat, I own a 1972 P bass, I own a 1969 Fender Bassman (all purchased new)...I thought for sure I would love to own a new Fender amp.

Maybe Not Yet.

:?: :?: :?:

We usually end up getting what we paid for.

A "lookalike" Twin Reverb for three hundred bucks that performs like its legendary namesake just ain't gonna happen. Not in this universe, not in this space-time continuum.

Oh, I know man, we definetly get what we pay for.

I wasn't expecting this amp to perform like the twin...just really wanted it because, compared to my bassman, it's portable and had the features I wanted....plus I liked how it looked.

Back in 1973, a buddy of mine went off to college and offered me his 10 year old twin reverb for $75.

Like a dumb arse, I refused...I was more interested in buying weed
