It's been doing everything negative this site has said about DeVilles as of late. I've only recently read where an O-scope was used to figure out and rectify an issue successfully. Seems like everyone else fixed then fixed again and then again and finally gave up and got rid of their DeVilles because they are cronically unreliable. So today it was Goodwill & good ridance.

Oh well, I'll have to make do with the LP Jr or the SCXD and Delux Reverb.....

Good luck. Sorry to hear about your trouble. I know that forum member 63 supro has been warning all about that line of amps for quite a while now. Go with the Deluxe if you can.

"Congratulations, Luke......you've taken your first step into a larger universe."

The DRRI will serve you in good stead.

+1 I'm sorry to hear that too. I'd go for the DRRI or try some of the Egnater line like the Rebel, Tweaker or Tourmaster line. Great amps. That's what I did and never looked back. It's bad enough when they don't make tubes like they used to. But I can deal with that no problem. But reliability problems never sit right with me. I rely on my gear to work and I really don't like carrying more gear than I need to because of it.

I rely on my stage amp just as I do my pistol......that sonofabitch has to work every time I need it!

There are no second chances in either scenario.

I think the Hot Rod series fits perfectly with Fender's recent marketing

They wanted to create amps that would appeal to the largest segment of their audience. They have to look nostalgic, evoking the amps from the early days of rock and roll, and they need names that recalled those times (Deluxe, Deville, "Blues"). At the same time they needed to be loud, and cheap.

In appearance and name, they recall fuzzy dice and drive-ins, and therefore satisfy the buyer's desire to own "vintage" gear at an affordable price. IMO, it doesn't even matter how they sound... The audience has been pre-sold.

Nitro pills were a remarkable pharmaceutical development -- they're easier to self-administer than having to chew up a chunk of Composition B or Amatol. And they have none of the aftertaste.
