I have been told that i can use a 6LGC power tube in place of the 6V6 that comes in the amplifier from the factory to get more headroom if i bias it. now, i was told by another source that there is no way to adjust the bias in this amplifier. I figured that coming here would likely bring the most accurate information on this subject. i really enjoy the amplifier except for the fact that i would like to have more headroom. what is the story? CAN I use a 6LGC in place of the fdactory 6V6? if not then how do i get more headroom. with more headroom this really would be the perfect living room amplifier for me, this really IS an amazing little amplifier and for 249 dollars at my local Guitar Center the price cant be beat.

Hi bucky katt,

I have used a 6L6 in mine, it sounds great, and it sounds fantastic when used with an external 12" speaker cab. The amp is Cathode biased, no need to adjust anything. Using the 6L6 will have an increased draw of filament current by about 50% over a 6V6 (6V6-.6 A, 6L6-.9A) which may cause a little more heat from the amp, but otherwise seems to handle it well. The transformer is designed to handle even more current than that, so should be good for the extra current.

As always, something like this is not normal, and may be slightly risky due to the extra heat produced, but in my opinion the amp will handle it just fine, mine did. I left the back panel off of mine for better air circulation to help get rid of the extra heat.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.
