I am in the market for a small amp to play at bedroom levels. How are they holding up? I have read the thread about the one bought in 2008 and showing problems a year later. For the most part, are these pretty reliable? Is there a better alternative? I tried and returned a Mustang III that had some issues, so I am steering clear of that line until they work out the kinks. (No offense to anyone that has one and loving it!)

I have a Champion 600, but I want something with a few effects...reverb and the ability to get "dirty."

Thanks!

I've also had one about 2 years with no reliability issues at all. I don't gig with it however and generally use it for practice/working up new songs etc. I usually gig with larger amps but I do have a Hot Rod Deluxe 112 enclosure that I sometimes run the SCXD with and it really opens the amp up. I wouldn't be afraid to play some smaller venues with it. Some aren't crazy about the digital effects but for the money I think it's a fine little amp. Check out Don Anderson's YouTube demos of the SCXD especially the voices video. This will give you a nice indication of the amp's character.

You don't hear much about reliability issues at all. I'm not a fan of DSP effects, I like the vintage Champs a lot more, but for the money, I think it's a good value.

Thanks for the response, 63supro. For my needs (no talent, don't gig or jam), I think that the DSP effects are going to be okay.

It would probably be perfect for you. A great amp to have around the house. 90% of the stuff I hear goes wrong with these amps is just tube related. Not a big deal at all.

My friends is fine after 2 years of frequent use including some gig work.
He at times is using an Ibanez 12" cab with a Celestion 70/80 speaker which gives a bigger sound if he needs it.

Mine is too new to say and I am enjoying it.

I have had one for close to 3 years. I gig with it record with it and love it. I have kept mine stock and really love how it sounds now that the speaker has broken in. It will serve you well and give you alot of options for a reasonable price!
ABS :D
