The Blackstar HT1 is best for that I think. It is a tube hybrid though.

Line 6 amps are decent SS amps that have a lot of on board effects at different price levels. I have owned several in the past and had no issues with them.

Line 6 is good but the insane channel and even the metal channel sound like a bunch of bees buzzing around in a box. If I were you, I would DEFINITELY go with a small tube amp but if you REALLY want a solid state, I would recommend either the Orange Crush, Peavey Vypyr, or a Roland Cube. Line 6 is just too computerized and I'm sorry but the technology for a good solid state amp with that many sounds just isn't good enough yet. Maybe in a few years, but not today. Just look at the difference between the Line 6 Spider IV vs the Spider I. Can you imagine what the Spider X will be like?

I've owned em all - Line 6, Peavey, VOX, Fender, etc, etc, and all the multi-effects units. For these types of amps, the Fender Mustang was the best by far IMHO. I prefer the real tube thing, but I understand the bedroom volume thing. The Fender kicks butt.
