Hey, I'm new to the forums and the only reason I signed up was to ask this question. I have an old Squier SP-10 Amp I got when I bought my first guitar. The amp worked fine until April/May when it fell flat on it's face while I was jamming. Everything seemed to be working fine, and it wasn't very loud because my nephew was sleeping, so I thought I'd leave it and play tomorrow, the next day I tried turning up the volume, and it didn't work! The knob still turns fine, but the volume doesn't go up with the turning, and it's stuck on like 0.5 volume so there's not much I can really do. Can anyone help? I will NOT take "buying a new amp" as a suggestion. Because I'm in the process of saving and the earliest that possibility will happen is mid 2012 because my job sucks. Alot. Thank you

Since you are loath to accept "buying a new amp" as a suggestion, allow me to drop the other shoe......

Don't bother taking it to an authorized Fender repair center -- they'll tell you that these amps are non-repairable and send you down the road (if the amp were still under warranty, they'd swap you for a brand-new item and hook-shot the dead one into the nearest dumpster).

That said, if you happen to know someone skilled in electronics and who enjoys tinkering, he or she might be able to get the amp playing again -- it'd depend upon how much damage the impact caused.

I agree with Retrok, these amp can be found for 20 euros second hand.
However if you want to investigate, it's a good opportunity to learn about electronics without damages.
First clean the pots with a cleaner such as "KF F2" (European reference find an equivalent in NA).

Good answer Retroverbial,

Maybe the printed circuit is broken whe the knob hit the floor

A distinct possibility, Stratele.

Still being in school maybe my electronics teacher could help, however, I've opened it up to find everything looking normal on the circuit board and my dad has looked at it and said that it should be working fine.
The thing that gets me thinking is the treble and bass knobs are working, which
I find weird. I would have thought if one of them goes crappy they all would

What you can do with your eln teacher is to use an oscilloscope and trace the sound up to the speaker in order to find the issue (just take care about primary supply that is connected to 240V AC).
I can help you at distance since I've one of these expendable goods and I don't use it.

It's possible that the volume pot bore the brunt of the impact -- likely the wipe fell off the shaft or the wafer itself was damaged. If you can locate a correct replacement, it might not be too difficult -- or expensive -- to repair.
