Hello all. Im in the market for a new amp and on the brink of getting a Blues Deluxe, but also considering a DRRI.
How does the DRRI cope with delay pedals going straight in the front of the amp as it has no effects loop.
My current Laney VC sounds awful, so i run the reverb and delay in the loop and my TS9 and EQ pedal in the front. I dont use masses of delay, just a touch of slap back.
I knoe the DRRI is regarded as a better amp and the 22w is more than ample for where i play.
Also to ad. As much as i like the mid boost i get fron the TS9, the loss of bottom end is irritating me. So any suggestion to a drive pedal the either the Blues Deluxe or DRRI will work well with. I quite fancy a Fulltone Fulldrive. how does it fair against a tube screamer.

Cheers all.

BDlx has Fx loop but for distortion/overdrive it is recommanded to place it close to guitar, then before the amp input. Consequently, a test of both configuration (Fx + front for the BDlx and full front serial for the DDRI) in a chop is a good advice. 8)

Be careful, I bought a DRRI about a year ago (to flip) and I had 2 different OD pedals in front of it and neither sounded good. It takes some pedals real well (I think in the thread I had on it someone said the Fulltone worked well with it). I had the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver (modded) and a Blackstar Dist pedal (great pedal) and it didn't work well with either.

I concur...I have a modded BD-2 that sounds great with my Hot Rod Deville 410, but does nothing in front of my DRRI.

I've also heard good things about the OCD with the DRRI. Another one to seriously consider.. the Zendrive. All reviews on this one have been stellar.

In use a Zendrive, and it's the best sounding OD I ever heard. I know a guy who also loves his, but says that when he uses it live with his DRRI that makes his solos "disappear." Robben Ford doesn't have this problem... I think he's not using it right.

I have tried a few blues deluxes in my local guitar shops with all my pedals set up as i would have them, and to be honest the sound and tone i got was superb and it blew me away. really rich and warm.
Im off for a couple of days next week and one of my local shop has got both amps side by side in there amp room.

dc01, most of my amps never had a loop. My Rebel 20 has one but I don't use it. It's really not a necessity and in my opinion the DRRI is the better sounding/built and more versatile amp. Two channels with separate EQ and a great reverb. An effects loop would never be a deal breaker for me. Try them both out and see how it works out for you.

As a former blues deluxe and present drri owner , I agree. More flexibility with the deluxe reverb.I like to play my Lester into the normal channel and my strats into the vibrato channel when I play live.

I've noticed that my chorus pedal seems to be a little noisy when I play it in front of my amp so I usually put it in the effects loop. Would I still hear that swirling sound if I put it in front of the DRRI? It sounds like the OP may have the same type of issue with his delay pedal

I've had my DRRI for over two years and gigged with it. The OCD is made for it, I tried the BD2, Zen drive, and several. Chorus pedal, the EHX small clone works nicely.
