I noticed the jewel light in my '64 Vibroverb Custom was flickering. The amp itself seems fine, I didn't notice a change in volume or tone etc. The light intensity was low then would brighten up to "normal" for a few seconds then go back to low. Is it just a sign that the light is going or is it a symptom of something else?

I would try a new lite first. You can pick them up cheap at radio shack it's a #47 bulb for a few dollars. If it still does that i would suspect something with the power transformer. But as you have said you are not getting a change in sound so i would suspect it's a funny bulb.

+1

You might also inspect both the bulb and the socket for any signs of corrosion. If found, spray a little De-Oxit on a Q-tip and clean thoroughly. The 6.3VAC which powers the pilot lamp uses the same voltage tap on the power tranny as all your tube's heaters -- thus, if anything were amiss with it you'd also have tube problems (which you don't).
