Hi... I'm the very happy owner of a new DRRI (just bought it today). I love the natural distortion this thing puts out at 6 - 7 on the volume, but my neighbors won't love the volume for much longer. What pedal will come close to the natural distortion of this amp? I use both Les Pauls and Strats (actually, one of them is a G&L Comanche.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your new amp! Check out the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver with the Keely Phat Mod ( http://www.robertkeeley.com/product.php?id=14 ). It sounds real nice with the DRRI. You also may want to try something like the Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster pedal ( http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/s ... pickup_bo/ ). The pickup booster pedal set to wide open should get you some earlier breakup. It also fattens up the tone real nice.

Does your DRRI have the ceramic or ALNICO speaker?

I use a Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker on my BDRI. For a deeper metal sound I have a Digitech Grunge Pedal. To get even more grit I sometimes overdrive the Big Muff with a EH Soul Preacher or a Hardwire CM-2 or both, a little trick I learned from here...

Congrats on your new amp! You'll enjoy some sweet tone for years to come...

This little orange box works great with my DRRI

Works with both my Strats and humbucker guitars...

For simple overdrive it's pretty tough to beat the Fulltone OCD and it's definitely one of Fulltone's less expensive pedals. I also hear interesting things about their Plimsoul but I have not yet tried one or know of it's price point. Word of caution. Once you get used to the no frills design and obvious high quality of Fulltone products you may find yourself wanting more and they're not cheap.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Fulltone Fulldrive Mosfet is becoming an industry standard. I use one with my DRRI and it's perfect. My buddy bought one after hearing mine. The guitar player in my band uses one as well. The OCD is great too, but I like the layout of the Fulldrive. It has two switches: one for on/off, one for boost with it's own gain adjustment.

I have the MXR Classic Overdrive and it is a solid pedal that is a great value. Check it out:

Fulltone ocd or plimsoul(my personal favorites), or maybe even the "fdr-1" pedal from boss, although I've never tried that one. But it makes sense, i guess.

Check out the Blackstar pedals. They have a tube in them. I use the HT-Distortion and it sounds awesome with my red knob twin. I can get from blues to classic rock to hard rock. Amazing tones.

I picked up one of these used. I really like it and it's simple, but I'll probably get something a little more "high end" a little later.

I'm real happy using the Ibanez Tube Screamer TS808 with my DRRI at low volumes.

+1

I use one with my Blues Deluxe Reissue. Works great with my Strat and both Teles, as well as my humbucker equipped guitars. Very natural sounding.
