HRD vs DRRI? Do we even need to have this discussion?

The DRRI is $300 more because it's that much better. Not just tone, but quality too. Where's 63Supro when you need him?

  So true. I wouldn't worry about wattage difference either. 40 watts is quite a bit of power. You might gain a little more headroom but the DRRI cuts better. The way I look at it anymore, If 20 or 30 watts isn't enough, it's time to look for a new band.

Man, I hear that. My SRRI gets almost zero use because the band complains I'm "too loud" every time I use it. My CVR sounds wonderful at about 3.2 on the volume knob but the volume is overpowering on stage or practice. The max I can turn it up to is just over "1". I've currently got a 12 watt 5E3 kit on order and I'm hoping that will finally be the one I can overdrive with the band and still have the amp in the same room. :)

Congrats on the DRRI! I too always wondered why they put the 100 watt speaker in the DRRIs, but it's sounds good so I never voiced a complaint.

There just great amps the drri turn them up and your rocken. I think the 100 watt speaker sounds pretty nice when broken in handles pedals well when your up on the volume . had mine for six years just non stop tone ..Cheers..From..Aus.

I glad you got it. I've answered this question before. The DRRI is a USA PRO Tube amp, the HRD is not pro tube built.

+1
Mine is slowly being broken in & I'm definitely getting better tone from the speaker the more I use it. The initial fartiness is slowly dissipating. :)
