Hi guys. This a strange one... I have a 65 reissue twin reverb amp after being on for a while I notice the red light on the front goes off. This is odd any ideas what it could be. The bulb does work for a while then just goes out :? Happens every time I use it

Bad bulb or intermittent continuity between it and the lamp socket. Remove the bulb and inspect both it and the contacts within the socket. The type #47 bulbs are inexpensive and a dirty socket can be cleaned with De-Oxit and a Q-tip.

Like Retroverbial.

First a "dirty" socket. Plug and unplug the lamp many time , it could clean the contacts

My bulb lasted over 30 years. LOL I only had to clean it once or twice. Like Arjay said try cleaning the bulb and socket first.

Old bulb could be better build than new one made in ...china ?

What I see on my car stop light ,the stop bulb not working because of "oxidation" between bulb and socket.
It happened 3 years ago on my 2007 car. First I replace the bulb by a new one and it work, because when I remove an put the new one. This move clean oxidaxion.
At this time I was sure the bulb was burn I did not check more.
6 months later same bulb don't glow, now I check it carefuly she is good, look at inside socket look good but I know what could happened on two kind of metal contact.

I spray WD40 ( Yes, I know it not sell as a cleaner but it is my secret for special kind of trouble). I want something little oily in for the damp like in a car.

No problem since this time. I'm sur will last ......forever ( ?)

The WD40 is a good idea stratele52. There used to be some kind of a waxy substance, similar to plumbers putty, that manufacturers put in the bulb sockets on cars to keep the moisture out. I guess that they no longer do this?

Waxy substance... yes I understand maybe it is dielectric grease ? I have for some for job in espensive gear. But this grease, is expensive, too much for mass production.
