Hi :D
Like you can see, I have a problem with my Blues Junior :? This is my problem:
I bought (in vacation to New York) a brand new, in the box, Blues Junior. The box was not even open. I take it home, open the box, read the instruction manual attentivly, and plug the amp.

The amp sound really not like the one I try in the shop (J&R, NYC) All the button don't react-work well and there is a "hum" in the sound. The reverb don't work too, I look on forum to find answer to my problem and found some little thing, I unplug my amp, look at it and see a black little box (spring reverb, I think.) It is fix to the amp and have to connection plug on it. They have a black plug connected in it, and a red plug that were not connected. So I tought it was the answer, plug the red plug, and plug my amp back, and play it. No difference.

What can I do?

P.S. I can't take the amp back to the shop because it's at 7 hour from my house :( And I won't return in vacation there... And the shop don't take shipping were I live...

Thank in advance!

Music@lly,

FenderMax

Hi FenderMax,

Your English is better than my Spanish. :)

Black reverb tank? Quite possibly the connections inside the tank are not connected. Can you remove the tank and look underneath at the wires? There were many of these tanks that got through QC that simply weren't finished. That would be my first thought. Check to see that the red and black plugs are into the correct sockets, make sure that red is the input to the tank, it makes a big difference if they are backwards. On my BJr, the red one is on the left, looking at the back of the amp, but I have a different tank.

This schematic from Fender might be good for your model.

As far as warranty, I believe that you will have to deal with the store where purchased. Fender doesn't do repairs, they use Authorized Service Centers. You might contact the store where purchased and see what they recommend, shipping the amp to them might be an option.

Oh, sorry i missed that. That seems odd that they don't take shipping.

Here is the J&R return policy:

http://www.jr.com/information/help.jsp#returns

According to this, you have 14 days to return an instore purchased item for exchange or refund. If you are within that 14 day window, I suggest you contact J&R immediately and ask for a return authorization number and tell them you want to exchange the amp or get a refund.

if you are beyond the 14 day window you will have to contact a Fender authorized service center as shimmilou suggested. J&R does not do repairs. They are simply a reseller. I have purchased camera equipment from them in the past and I found them to be pretty reasonable to deal with if there is a problem.

Good luck.
