Post subject: Deluxe reverb reissue help

whenever i turn on my DRR no sound from the guitar comes through but there is this loud poping and buzzing sound like extremely loud ill probably take it into the shop unless one of you know what im talking about and its a simple fix

Hi taylor832,

It may just be a bad tube. Output tube, preamp, or even rectifier. With amp power off, remove the pi tube V6, power up the amp and see if you still have the noise. If no noise, then a preamp tube, or the pi itself, may be the problem. If you still have the noise with the pi removed, then it may be an output tube problem. You can confirm the rectifier tube and power supply by using a volt meter and the schematic. :idea:

If you change output tubes, change both as a set and set the bias for the new tubes.

thanks for the info guys. Im probably going to take it to the shop if its the tube as this is my first real amp and its still under warranty so id hate to muck something up. One other thing i forgot to mention sometimes it works perfectly fine but most times it does what i explained still the same problem?

Could still be a tube, but intermittent problems typically indicate poor solder joints or other bad connections. Just as a possibility, make sure that all of your tubes are fully seated (pushed firmly into the sockets), it has happened. :idea:
