I agree... The problem may lie deep in the bowels of those circuit boards. And I don't believe new blanks are available. It might be time to tell the owner the bad news...

ALCON- I am adding to the long list of things that may be wrong in an amp that has a, what I call "Crackle From Hell!!" There is a plate load voltage that can bleed through the tone circuit if either of the two capicitors or if the Mica is bad. Either way I replaced all three parts and this CURED THE CRACKLE FROM HELL.. I will repost this in a new fourm.

I saw your other thread, the tone stack caps also function as coupling caps. Good job!
