hi
i recently got a Mustang IV, and i love it... but... there's an opportunity to get a CyberTwin (not the SE version, the original version) for 500$, and well, it has ACTUAL TUBES...
i realise it wont be able to do the SuperSonic model that the mustang can do and has less effects than the MIV.

im looking for opinions, has anyone here used both? if so, which do you prefer? and why.

thanks

Long-time CT user Johnny Stecchino has used both. I asked him about a comparison and he wrote:

"i've just started to noodle with the mustang IV. out of all the mustangs, i think the IV sounds the best.

the mustang cleans are pretty good, but the CT has much more variability from what i can tell, especially the reverbs and the amp models. i'm still not 100% with the FUSE software. I think our software beats out fuse, it's just not sexy but is way more functional.

because i'm much more familiar with the CT's, i think they sound better, probably because i know how to setup it up right. however the one thing about the mustang IV is that it's a good sounding amp in its own way and it has enough variability to find many good tones - it is a good amp. i was not too excited about I, II, or the III, i thought they lacked the low-end punch. chords are distinctive - each note rings out, i use a strat, and that's they way a strat is supposed to sound. i think the strat and the IV are a very good match. i tried a les paul in the store - ugly, the chords were just a wall of sound, i didn't like it.

the IV is inexpensive compared to other amps. not sure how road worthy they are. i was told that if the mustangs break down, the entire amp is replaced under warranty - too expensive & complicated to fix. my impression is that they are not industrial strength - i got doubts about roadworthiness.

ciao,
john"
