Though I usually use the Hot Rod for its clean sound, I'm wondering what settings are best to get a good distortion sound out of it.... haven't found one I'm happy with yet. What's worked for you? Thanks.....

Hi gcor,

The HRDlx isn't exactly known for it's drive sound (distortion). The best use of this amp is usually on the clean channel with pedals for distortion. I achieved pretty good results on the drive channel in mine using GT 12AX7-C preamp tubes (all three positions), and they really improved the driven sound. The clean channel was nearly the same with these tubes, maybe a little warmer than the stock tubes, but still very nice clean sound.

My usual settings, using the foot switch to change channels, no pedals:

You aint gunna ever get a Audiogasam outta the drive channels of this Amp. Just put effects in front of the clean!!! But that clean channel!!! Who cares about the drive!!! !!!! You can set your volume on your pedal to change up a gear!!!
