I actually built my own reverb stompbox for the Rebel, but the thing is I don't really miss the reverb. Good quality amps for example, the Bassman, Tweed Deluxe 5e3, Champ Amp, and my Egnater included sound great without reverb and I actually prefer it that way. Something about natural room reverb and the natural resonance of a well built cabinet that really does it for me. :D I wouldn't deal with a store that only carried one brand. As much as I love Fender amps, I've owned many amps besides Fender. I've had Sunn, Ampeg, Silvertone, Danelectro, Pignose, Peavey and even an Earth Amp. Some were way better than others, but at least I had the opportunity to own them.

Guess I might return it. Just wanted to get a sound that had fender cleans on a budget. And the reverb was imp. to me, but I have never owned an expensive amp so I don't have much to judge by.

You'll never get "Fender" cleans out of an EL84 powered amp. If you want to be impressed, when you take your amp back, plug into a Deluxe Reverb Reissue. The reverb on the HRD series amps is just horrible, so's the distortion. But if you have no point of reference, you'll never know. If I were you, I'd save a little more money. For around $600 you can pick up a DRRI. You'll be glad you did. It's way better in tone and build quality than any Hot Rod Series amp.

I played the drri, loved it, but just figured it would take to long for me to save up--I thought they were 1000? Plus I need to get a strat. Right now I have a BC Rich retro gunslinger, I got it cuz I use the vibrato a lot, and thought I would be able to get a decent clean with the dimarzio chopper that is in the bridge. Wrong, it works, but I don't get happy when I hear it, and there is a super distortion in the bridge, so I can't get brighter cleans, only a painful bark. Thanks for all the advice so far. I hate my local music shops, they just try to sell and don't help me make a good decision based on my needs and situation. Thanks a lot for the advice.

Sorry, I forgot to put the word "used" in there for the DRRI  You can get a used Tweaker pretty cheap too.

If I didn't get the DRRI first, I would've gone for the Tweaker. If you feel the BJr is loud enough, the Tweaker should fit the bill. If you're really desperate & don't want to add $$, you might want to try the Super Champ XD. If you don't mind a DSP preamp that is.

It will rattle on Bb's when in the stand, but is still noisy w/o. I tried the superchamp, and it's all right. But if I'm gonna get a nicer amp soon, it seems like a waste of money.
