Hi all, I recently bought a DRRI From a local Fender dealer. It sounded a bit sterile, so I ordered bias meter. Just received it today. So I checked the bias, & as I thought, it was measuring very low. 1 tube was at 14ma & the 2nd at 11ma. I attempted to raise it by turning the bias pot (clockwise), but no results. No matter how many times I turned it, it stayed the same. Am I doing something wrong, or is the pot disfunctional? It's the first time I'm doing this. Please advise. BTW, it's under warantee.

O.K. I managed to do it!! I'm not sure why it didn't work the first time. I'm sure I had the screwdriver down in the slot, but for some reason it felt like something was slipping inside. But I tried it a 2nd time. This time I used a mirror to make sure the slot was turning, & it barely took a 1/4 turn either way to raise & lower the bias. I got it at 23ma on both tubes. Anyone have an explanation for that?? I hope I didn't screw something up  I hope to open another thread w/some pics shortly.

Possibly you didn't have the screwdriver all the way in the slot the first time. It's a little tricky if you haven't done it before. Wrong size head on the screwdriver can do it too. At least that's what happened on my first attempt.

My tubes were off such that I couldn't get both at 23mv so congrats on getting that. How did the sound change for you after doing the above? For the better I'm sure.

Glad to hear it's not just me  . I was having nightmare visions of having to lug it back to the shop. The sound change? Night & Day!!! It sounds like it ought to now. :o
