Swapped it for a mic I had that I didn't really need.

I like it. It might not be some peoples cup of tea, but it sounds fine to me. Surprisingly warm given what I'd been lead to believe about Fender amps (it's my first one).

Oh I will.

And so will my neighbours...

Whether they want to or not

Enjoy! 8)

I have the Frontman 65R and let me point out a few things....
1) It may be just a 1x12 65 watt amp - BUT IT IS %&*$@# LOUD!!!!
2) It's solid state and has a beautiful, crystal clear, shimmering, clean tone.
3) The OD channel leaves a lot to be desired, but with some tweaking of the treble, mid, bass controls - along with the guitar's tone knob - you can get a pretty decent overdrive/distortion tone.
4) The tube amp purists will probably look at it like, "yeah? ...big deal."
5) It's a Fender, and has the legendary Fender reputation going for it.

I have a Fender Frontman 212R loaded with two Texas Heats in it and I wish I would have gotten two of the Frontman 65R's instead.

Hey Butch. I watched your video. Good work

Yep. It's definitely loud. Right now I have the guitar volume knob on 2 to 3 and the amp (clean channel) on 2. Even that low it's definitely louder than my little Vox Pathfinder 15 with the volume on full and gain at around 11 O'Clock. I tried it on 10 (both knobs), but I had to stop pretty sharpish

Any tips/settings for getting a good OD channel sound would be most welcome. I don't use OD much, but it's always nice to have it available. Note: I'm not interested in a Metal sound (nu or old), so I won't be using the mid scoop.

Have I seen complaints in user reviews about the reverb? I have to say, it sounds fine to me. I wasn't really expecting a big wet surf rock reverb in a modern amp and what I do have is perfectly usable. Of course, this does come with the caveat that this is the first amp I've ever owned that had a reverb tank. So I don't really have much to compare it to.

BTW, mine is the FM 65R (like yours). Not the newer Frontman 65R. I even like the aesthetic (I was slightly afraid from looking at photos online that it'd have one of those atrocious plastic speaker grills).

That'd be 30 watts more pain you could inflict on the audience

Not that I'm suggesting your music is painful to listen to

Thanks... I didn't know what to do or what to say, so I just kind of "winged it" when I did that video.

I keep my MIM Strat (with the Delta-Tone circuitry/Am. Std. pickups) like this:
Volume on "8".
Tone 1 (neck, neck/middle) on "9".
Tone 2 (middle, middle/bridge, and bridge), on "8".

I keep the Frontman 65R like this:
Volume on "2"
Treble on "4"
Bass on "6".
- - - - - - -
Drive on "6"
Volume on "2½" (or maybe "2" if my wife yells at me! LOL... )
Treble on "6"
Mid on "4"
Bass on "4"
- - - - - - -
Reverb on "3"

I don't use the "mid contour" button either. It's too harsh and too brittle for my taste. I'm not into wicked death metal tones either, so I don't bother with it. You can back off the drive to about "5" and fiddle with the treble/mid/bass controls to get a pretty decent OD tone. That's what I did.

I haven't heard any complaints about the reverb either. It's a common spring reverb and it sounds fine to me. Reverb on "3" sounds great as is, and provides a sweet touch of reverb. But anything past "7", and it sounds like your amp is on a concrete floor inside of an empty airplane hangar! :o

Yeah I remember the original FM 65R that came out with that weird looking speaker grill. WTF was Fender thinking? :?

Anyway, enjoy the FM 65R! It's a great amp for the money! 8)

Have you tried dialing the neck PU tone all the way back to zero for some of that good old what we British like to call "woman tone"?

Apologies

Oh. And yes it is a great amp :D

I hgave the first, black version FM 65R. Does anyone know if there are any differences between this and the second release with silver grill (except the grill)?
I like it clean, even OD, a little bit, but I took it to reamp a SCX2 with better tube tones!

Differences are strictly cosmetics.
