I love my HRD Amp, sounds incredible with my Strat!

I understand Input 2 is for high gain inputs. I also understand if you use both Inputs 1 & 2 at the same time, Both input sensitivities become equal.

2 parts to my question:

1. Is it okay to plug in an Ipod or MP3 player into Input 2?
2. When I have a 2nd input connected... my guitar doesn't sound as good on Input 1. What's going on here?

May be use another amp (acoustic for instance) for your MP3 or Ipod and keep you HR for your strat. 8)

Hi twaite,

The reason that you lose sound level when using both inputs is that the input jacks have switches built-in so that the input resistance changes depending on which input(s) is used. With only input 1 used for a guitar, the input goes through 34k ohms, and when you plug something into input 2 the resistance of input 1 is switched to 68k ohms. Increased resistance = attenuated signal. About a 6db difference between the two resistances.

Songs from an iPod or similar player will never sound very good plugged into most amps, as the amp is made to produce sound, not reproduce it. Then add your guitar to the mix and it sounds even worse.

Thanks guys for the quick responses. Now I understand the 2nd input.

I decided to move my old stereo receiver and some nice bookshelf speakers into my music room. Sounds awesome! Enough watts to have backtracks play with the HRD!!!

Was about to buy Powered Studio Monitors but this was a free solution.
