I have a 2009 Hot Rod 4X10 Deville that has been cracking while playing on the clean side of the house. I have narrowed it down to being somewhere in the amp itself. The pedal effects were eliminated and we ran the rig with the Grestch alone. We tought we had solved the problem as we installed new tubes, biased the amp to 65, cleaned up all the pots and input jacks, gave it a complete removal of all dust and anything that wasnt suposed to be in the amp. It ran solid for about 5 gigs and then... THE DREADED CRACKEL NOISE FROM HELL!! I have been reading about a few capacitors on the motherboard that may have a "Hairline Fracture" in them and that should be replaced. I am pretty seasoned when it comes to working on things but is this the only thing that could cause this to happen?

Thanks

Mike

Likely cold solder joints -- on the PCB or perhaps the tube sockets.

"+1" is shorthand for the re-affirmation of an existing comment.

HTH ("hope this helps")
