Going to need a little more info.
You are saying that your playing in the clean Channel and it jumps to the overdrive ?????
or that your pushing the amp into a state of overdrive with the attack ???

What volume levels are we talking about ??

about level 2 and 1/2
ill be playing clean and it will just jump into overdrive for a split second with some nasty cracks and pops

but now when i turn it on it does it

so i think it is either bad tubes or bad sodering

More than likely bad solder joint. I have fixed at least 10 of the Hot Rod amps and they always have a bad solder joint and or open resistor.

Sorry every time I get on here the forum is closed.

I would vote for a tube or even as simple as a loose tube as a possibility.

rule out the easy stuff first !!!!
