I have not been without a Route66 from V/S for years !

I still like the second edition, with bass boost on the OD side and the ability to bypass the tone on the comp side, the newest editions with the updated housing are nice, i just dig the original a little more.

Strangely enough the only one i ever had trouble with was the newest version, it added a lot of noise till The fine folks at VS showed me how to adjust the internel trim pot.

I had one switch go bad, one call to VS a two bass boost switches showed up within a few days, now I have a spare.

For OD my cmatmods is the best of any I have ever tried.

I love my Boss CS3 Compressor Sustainer. Absolutely fantastic pedal. I tend to go with only Boss pedals because I have always had such great results with them.
ABS :D

I am using an EH Soul Preacher with my tube amps and I like the tone and sustain I can get with that pedal. It can be a little noisy, but once it is dialed in it is pretty sweet. There is a trim pot inside of it that you can dial down some of the gain. It overdrives my Hardwire CM2, Fulltone Fulldrive and Big Muff real good.

I have the V2 and those switches are totally sick. I am in love with my tone now. I finally sound like me! I just have got to get some DiMarzio Area T's in my tele now.

Budget?

Boss CS3 is great gear for not a lot of £s. Or look for a Vox Cooltron Snake Charmer - now discontinued but great controllability (6 knobs) and a valve on Board.

Both of them vie for space on my modest pedal board and I have no complaints.

I use an old MXR comp. and a VooDoo labs Sparkle Drive. I sat in on a seminar with Will Ray of "The Hellecasters" and noticed he was getting great tone no matter what Fender amp he played through, he was useing an MXR comp. and a Sparkle Drive. I have found The MXR comp to be very transparent, where other models seem to add extra hiss and quash the tone even at mild settings. Keely would be my second choice, also a great pedal.

Keeley comps are good. Carl Martin is also really good.
