hey bluesky , i know you run some different tubes that tame the amp but try some 12ax7 tubes in the amp to really hear the full volume of the speaker. those hemp paper cone speakers are nice. hemp...it's not just for smoking anymore. it will probably still be smoking in your amp. crank it. apoligise to the neighbors later.

No need to. The amp is still quite loud when dimed. At age 57, I prefer to protect what little bit of hearing I have left. :D

Well, I do have to confess to a bit of a senior moment regarding my comment about the CR not sounding as loud as the stock speaker.

I always leave the amp settings where I like them and control the overall volume from the guitar. Normally when I am done playing, I return the guitar's volume control to "0" to avoid any rude noises the next day when I first pick it up. When I picked up the guitar that I was playing last night and started playing it tonight, I noticed that I had left the volume control where I was playing it last night ..... on "8". When I turned it up to "10" I suddenly realized that this speaker is LOUD!

So I guess I have a little more tweeking to do with my amp settings then I first realized. The CR still sounds great, though. :D

It's such a small "sin" to atone for.

I have a C-Rex in my Blues Junior and a 1 x12 ext. for it with a C-Rex and it hits the tone I like. I have been thinking of doing a speaker replacement in my BDRI and was heading towards the C-Rex as well. My BDRI has the stock speaker now and I have a 2x12 ext for it with two 16ohm Texas Heats in it. Pretty hot sounds from that setup. I usually play both amp setups in stereo...

It will get loud, I usually keep them on four in the studio and use the EH Soul Preacher, Digitech Bad Monkey and a Digitech Screamin Blues along with the Volume pedal to tame it down. Hella tone. Out in the wild though I usually just use the EH Soul Preacher and around six or seven seems to bring the beast out of the amps.

When I need a little silence, I just go here and do a little fly fishing..
