Indeed! :( More reason to stick with vintage amps

No debate or argument there!

It seems as though all the new stuff is now being assembled by laid-off UAW members who got axed after they drove GMC and Chrysler into the crapper with slipshod work.

As went Detroit, so goes Corona. If there's a next new amp in my future it will prolly have a Toyota "hood ornament".

Update,

Just to let you know its still in the shop being repaired, this is the first one like this they have seen so are in 'talks' with Fender regards how to fix it. I would think a new PCB was the answer?

Anyhow my old Peavey Bandit is still in the corner looking at me with a big 'I told you so' look. I just cant plug into it though cos I know it will sound like I feel.

Will get back here once its sorted with details etc.

To make it worse the DRRI-LimEd over here was about twice the norm at £1100. (Sterling)

OK, Spoke to another tech who runs the workshop above the guitar shops in Denmark Street London - he says:

The opti-circuit is not allowed to be sold in a 'new amp' in Europe anymore and thats why Fender have switched it out to a 2nd PCB in the DRRI (and I presume anything RI). He says that you are still allowed to rip out the 2nd PCB and re-fit it with a normal opti-circuit as per older DRRIs as the main PCB has not changed AND the re-sale of these things are OK in euro law. (it contains some chem thing that the eurocrats have deemed dangerous?)

However, he also says he has seen a number of these broken Tremolos from the retailers in London and is not too uncommon for these new Tremolos to fail and wreck the volume. They should all just be sent back to Fender under warranty to be fitted with a replacement 2nd PCB, so why the big hold up? I dont know, it seems my tech is used to dealing with more expensive PTP amps and these PCB things are not on his radar, anyway - still waiting for the shop to ring me back with the news that I seem to be able to find out myself?
