Hi, Can anybody help -

I need a schematic for a Limited Edition DRRI. (Its the Red wine tolex type)
I have been told by the tech that it is NOT the same as a standard DRRI esp in regards to the Tremolo circuit. The amp came with a standard DRRI schematic which is no good.

The tech is contacting Fender but I thought I would try here as well. I thought the only difference was the speaker / grill / tolex but apparantly not.

Many Thanks if anybody can help.

I'm betting your tech is wrong.

The $60 (street) price difference between the red and black versions is eaten up by the Tolex and speaker change.

What I know, if it can help you, is:

Deluxe Reverb blackface (AA763 not sure)
--> AB763 --> http://ampwares.com/schematics/deluxe_reverb_ab763.pdf
--> and AB868 --> http://ampwares.com/schematics/deluxereverb_ab868.pdf
Silverface --> Volume boost --> http://ampwares.com/schematics/deluxe_reverb_boost.pdf
65' RI --> http://support.fender.com/schematics/gu ... ematic.pdf

Unfortunatly all seems having the same tremolo circuit !

If there is a number inside the cabinet such as B1270 it can help to find a different schematic.

Actually Bill, there is a mod to the trem circuit in all new DRRI amps -- a small module was added to the chassis that purports to deal with the "trem tick" issue. I thought I had a pic of this alteration but apparently not.

Obviously, Fender has the right to make running changes in their products as stated in their owner's manual. Was the running change incorporated in the OP's amp or not, is the OP's DRRI a "new" Reissue or an "old" Reissue. :lol:

This look what the guy you call tech is not a tech.

The small difference if this amp have ( ?) is nothing for a real tech.

And I could say a tech who know fender amp, need only anyone Fender amp schematics to fix almost any Fender amp.
They are all built the "same"

This revision to the circuit was apparently adopted a couple of years ago -- well before the release of the LE DRRI.

The only schematics I can find are dated "1993".

http://www.reitzel.com/schematics/Fende ... ations.pdf
I don't know if it is relevant. 8)

Hi All,
Many Thanks for your diagrams and input I appreciate that.
I got on the phone to Fender myself and guess what they had a schematic that they call: Reissue LDR Sub PCB.pdf - I will attempt to upload it.
Im no good at electronics etc but it seems to describe a PCB with chips on it.

Have a look and see what you think, the guy at Fender also said:

"The vibrato will have 2 PCB’s and the fuse is located on the PCB towards the side of the chassis"

If its a case that the Tremolo is now controlled by a Chip instead of an "opti-thing" then perhaps thats why he doesnt want to proceed without a diagram because as its still under warranty I dont think he wants to invalidate it etc?

<There doesnt seem to be an Upload button - is there a way to upload the PDF?>

You need to convert that schematic to a jpeg or other supportable format, upload it to Photobucket or other remote-hosting service, then use the correct HTML tags to post it here.

HTH

As for the trem now being IC-controlled, that makes sense. A digital oscillator will have none of the vices associated with an opto-isolator circuit. The effect itself remains "tube-driven", only now the tube conductance is gated on and off with zero's and one's.

Thanks, I will do that then you can all link to see the new schematic.

I dont know why Fender dont publish it as it seems that for 2011 they will be building a lot of these Limited Edition types.

BTW - Im still waiting on the shop/tech to get back to me but he only works one day a week, which seems about normal around here. I cant really go anywhere else because I purchased the amp through the shop who deal with the warranty etc so I just have to be patient and wait.

...interesting about the trem being operated by a chip....apparently they have cloned the exact characteristics of the older style op amp into the chip......right down to the ticking !!!!

I picked up a new DRRI LE a couple of months ago and the trem ticks to high heaven. Don't use much trem so it hasn't been a pressing issue.....figured I'd have it looked at later.

3 hissing Supersonic 22's, 1 ticking DRRI LE......sounding like a Christmas song huh????

For the 4th time in as many months, Fender's QC has underwhelmed me.
....you'd think I'd have figured it out by now....
