Hello,
My question is regarding the tone caps on the vibrato channel. Can I use a 250pf 500v silver mica for c7? The schematic calls for a 250pf 1k, but judging from the ceramic cap that's in there now, I don't believe its a 1k cap. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Abe

Why do you want/need to change the cap?

I have replaced tone caps on guitars with paper in oil caps and they have made a difference. I would like to see if replacing the tone caps with orange drops and a silver mica will improve the tone and hopefully reduce some of the "ice picky" sound. I have the chasis out for maintenace right now so this is the time to do it.

Update, I replaced tone caps on the vibrato channel minus the 250pf. After further inspection, I found that the cap that was mounted to the pcb was rated for 1kv so I left it alone. I will replace it when I find the correct voltage silver mica, why? Well, I did replace the other two caps with Orange Drops, as well as the two .1uf coupling caps into the power section with mallory 150's. All I can say is wow, I didn't expect to hear such a dramatic difference but I did. Top end has more of a chime to it, and the orange drops definately brightened up the amp some as well, but it's not a harsh brightness. More of a smooth sounding brightness. I don't know how to explain it exactly. What I do know is that I am happy with the results and will be performing these changes to the normal channel as well.
Chow.
