Received a new Blues Deluxe Reissue, promptly tested for upcoming gig. Found reverb inop. Checking reverb tank, found black rca connector broken off w/ pin still in the tank rca jack. Had to go get a connector & fix. The amp sounds good but your quality control leaves something to be desired. Warranties are useless close to a show.

Buying a new amp so close to a gig is pretty foolish in my opinion.

The gentleman may not have had a choice if his old amp happened to go "tango uniform" a day or two before the show. It happened to me once.

In that case, the defective amp should have been returned immediately for a replacement. However, I get the impression from the OP that the amp was not purchased locally (on-line maybe?) which sounds risky if the need was so urgent.

I agree, it should not, all the functions of the amp must be tested during process production, quickly but tested; That the raison that I buy only what I test.

Thanx for the feedback, folks. As I was pretty certain of the delivery, I don't feel the need to debate the wisdom of ordering equipment so close to a date. Since Fender doesn't seem to have a direct contact for the purpose, I used this forum to but suggest that they keep a closer eye on production.

45+ years in the business & I'd never received a Fender product that was released inop, even from an online source. There's a Music Man HD130-212 that exposed a design defect some time after purchase in the late 70's, but that's the only similar incident I can remember.

In any case, the amp sounds good enough, for now.

Unfortunately, it's a whole new ball game now. My experience with Fender is similar in duration to yours and I've owned some sixty of their amps over the decades (I currently own a dozen of them -- ten vintage, two re-issues). But the only "hangar queen" I ever ended up with was the HRDlx I bought brand-new in 2004. Thankfully I was able to unload it before the warranty expired.
