Nothing "shimmers" quite like a blackface AB763.

Preach on brutha!

Save your $$ for a used DRRI... if you go with the BDRI now you'll still want the DRRI later!

That's what I thought. I am wary of "new and improved"

I'm ordering the Blues Junior for now. ZZounds beat a competitors price putting it around $460. They will let me pay for it in 4 installments so its more doable for me. I may eventually get a DRRI but truthfully its out of my price range for now. Come tax refund time I can get the DRRI and have the BJIII as a backup or do the humboldt mod on the BJIII with the Slovakian tubes and cannabis rex hemp cone speaker. I bought my MIM Strat knowing I would upgrade it with better pickups. (Still need to upgrade the two single coils as I put a DiMarzio PAF Pro in the neck). Why not upgrade the BJIII?

I've seen late-model BJr's with every stinking "upgrade" and "mod" under the sun (Weber, Billm, Fromel, premium tubes, etc) go for less than $450 on Ebay. If this isn't proof positive that "silk-pursing" that sow's ear is a fool's errand, I honestly don't know what is.

I agree with Arjay. There's a lot better way to spend your hard earned bucks.

It's sad but true, the mods don't often bring much return on the investment, guitars and amps alike.

Well I finally got them down to 416 in 4 easy payments LOL. I prolly won't mod anything more than what I have already done to the strat. At this point I'm not going to sell either this amp or the guitar. Maybe I'll get a DRRI for Christmas ;)

Well, if you plan on keeping the BJr, and if you aren't worried about recouping the investment value or voiding the warranty, check here for some great improvements/mods that you can make if you want.

You may be in for the long haul. None of the HRD series hold their value one bit. It's a shame, you're only a couple of hundred bucks away from a used DRRI.

You can't get the DRRI or HRD on the payment plan?

EDIT: Sorry, didn't realize the post was so old.

How are you enjoying the Blues Jr? And did you ever get a DRRI?
