I have noticed recently that my reissue Twin Reverb has a loud pop to it when shutting her off at the standby switch. I have had this amp since 1998 when I bought it new. I just recently went through it and changed all the electrolytics including bypass caps and bias cab. Just wondering if this had something to do with it. Or could it be something easy like a dirty switch?

The "pop " from the standby switch is an arcing in the switch contact. This is because charge/discharge of capacitor in the power supply.

Few years ago a guy on this forum put contact cleaner in the switch and he said no more "pop". .
For myself I try this, sometimes it work sometimes don't. I replace switch by a new one and same pop.
And I fix many amp for past time.

I think is how the power supply is desing or today switch low quality ?

Try contact cleaner ; easy and low cost ; spray by the front on the switch .

Tell us if it work for you

My 76 Twin popped for over 30 years. So did my 65 Vibrolux Reverb. Some do it some don't. I never worried about it.

+1

I would however give it a passing thought in the event of smoke and/or a fire.

Light shows are for midway acts at the carnival and are usually played using chicom-made modeling amps.

They fit right in with the reptile ladies, the sword swallowers, and the rest of the clowns.

 My Twin was so reliable, I was afraid to have anyone mess with it. I took me 30 years to have it recapped and I did that as a preventative measure.
