So this is something we shall live with then? It doen't really bother me much, I use my BDRI more than anything any way. But since I took it apart I thought I'd might as well give it cleaning (used Deoxit G5) and replaced the original tube (yes, tube there is only one). No markings other than 12AX7A painted in red and in a heatshrink sleave. I put in a GT 12AX7-C, it works, I'm not sure there is any tonal difference though. 8)Image

I dont know the reason, but my Roc Pro head did it from the day I bought over 10 years ago. Annoying, but never became any more of an issue.

The 12Ax7 is only used on the gain circuit. So, It really doesn't affect tone too much. It is just used for overdrive. Put tilt-back legs on mine about eight years ago.
