I may not have that "drip edge" spelled right. It's something that I've seen recently. Why are Fender Silverface amps called "drip edge" ?

The "drip edge" is an aluminum trim that goes around the speaker grill cloth edges...it was only on the Silver Face amps until late '68/'69...can't remember right now.
I'm at work and can't post a pic now but later I'll post a pic of my '67 SF Deluxe Reverb with the drip edge trim.

Here is an example of a "drip-edge" Fender amp......

Image

In this instance, a '68 Bronco -- identical to an equivalent-year Vibro Champ, save for the front panel with its distinctive red panel surround and name.

The drip-edge molding appeared coincident with the debut of the silverface front panels and a new-weave grill cloth consisting of silver, black, and pale blue filaments. Though associated with the 1968 model year, these cosmetic features first showed up on some models in the spring of 1967. The aluminum trim began to disappear in early 1969 though later examples may occasionally be encountered.

Thanks, Scarleg.

I try to seek out the cleanest examples at the best possible price that I can.

My 69/70 Princeton No-verb - which is currently being used by my youngest son. He's running a 2x12 Jet City cab with Eminence drivers with this amp. I'm stealing it back when he head to college in August

Tranny #'s please?

I suspect your Princeton is actually a '68.

Well the grill cloth most definitely is from the 67/68 era. And the knobs appear to be the "snowman" type, which were discontinued at the end of the '68 model year. I've seen black-line front panels on a few '69s, even some '70s, so that cannot be used as a criterion for determining the age. When you get the amp back I'd be interested in what the EIA codes stamped on the trannies, pots, and speaker (if original) reveal.
