MY CUSTOM VIBROLUX REVERB HAS ALL OF THE MOYER MODS AND IT'S NOW VERY QUIET. I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT EACH CHANNEL. THE FIRST INPUT IN EACH CHANNEL IS LOUD. THE SECOND INPUT IN EACH SIDE IS SOFTER. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INPUT 1 & INPUT 2 IN EACH SIDE OF THE AMP?

On most Fender amps, on input 1 of each channel, the guitar signal runs through two 68K ohm resistors in parallel, giving a 34k ohm input impedance. Input 2 uses only one of the two 68K resistors, giving 68K ohm input impedance. So, input 2 is attenuated, has more resistance to the signal, and will sound lower than input 1 which has less resistance to the signal. If you use both inputs on one channel at the same time, they will both be equal at 68K ohms each.

Actually, the Input "low" is 2 times lower than the "high" one, in term of voltage .

Correct. The lower-gain input is intended for instruments with active on-board pre-amps. Say, a piano, keyboard, or (gasp!) an accordion.

I plug my humbucker guitars into #2 and my Strat and Tele into #1. Works great.

Speaking of B.B. I was watching my DVD of Crossroads 2010. I hadn't noticed until the other day that B.B was in a wheel chair in the backstage area. I have never seen him down like that before. Then at the end of the concert he did "The Thrill is Gone" sitting down with a few players. B.B. was always so healthy and vibrant. Either the microphone was way down or he was having trouble singing. It's hard to see him on the way out like that. He's such an icon and always been there for us. I wonder how many gigs he's played?

BB is 85 years old. Maybe you will be so lucky to still be playing to packed houses when you are his age. My wife and I saw him on New Years day this year at the Birchmere in Alexandria Va. He walked on and off stage. He played and sang for almost 2 hours and was fantastic. He has played more gigs than you or I can count and continues to play them.

B.B. has all of my respect. His soloing has always 'signature B.B'. I have always thought that once a guitarist is recognizable from just hearing him, than that artist is in a very special place amongst all guitar players. His styling is immediately obviously B.B. The same way for blues vocalists, Robert Cray for instance has 'that voice'...an so do so many others.

Robert Cray does not wander off the stage in the middle of a show with the auditorium packed with fans who paid money to see and hear him play.

BB passed his zenith decades ago and should now stick to hawking adult diapers and diabetic supplies......I wouldn't walk around the block to see him if he were playing for free.

Arjay,

Sorry you have had some bad experiences at BB's Shows

I've seen BB King in concert almost every year since the early 80s. I can remember standing in line with my wife at the entrance to DAR Constitution Hall in Washington DC waiting to get in to see BB and Bobby "Blue" Bland. Never once was his performance less than outstanding. I hope that I am still breathing when I am 85.

Here is a photo I took of BB with my cell phone from my seat at the Birchmere on January 1, 2011. His performance and interaction with the crowd was incredible. At the end of the show, I got his autograph, a pick, and little guitar pin straight from BB's hand. The guy sitting next to me brought his Epiphone "Lucille" for BB to autograph, which he gladly did. The guy with the Epi was in absolute awe.

My wife and I saw BB play last year at Wolf Trap Farm Park in Vienna Virginia in late August. It was 95 degrees. The humidity was so bad that it wrecked havoc on the tuning of all of the guitars on stage. During the show a tremendous thunderstorm broke out. BB and his band kept playing throughout. At the end of the show BB hung around for a good half hour, sitting on the stage edge talking to fans and signing autographs.

In my opinion, BB King is a better performer than many of the bands and guitarists 1/4 his age.

BB's been really disappointing lately. His stories have been getting longer and his playing getting shorter. His health has been in serious decline for years. I'd rather see some older videos of BB in his heyday. Same with Johnny Winter. Just got to face the fact these guys are getting old and not really capable of doing what they once did. Sad but true. Sorry but I won't be spending any money to see BB. You eventually pay for living life to excess.

Your choice. BB must be doing something right because he still plays to packed houses wherever he goes. Can't say that I have ever seen anyone get up and leave during one of his shows complaining that the show sucks.

I agree about Johnny Winter. I bought one of his latest CD's, "I'm a Bluesman". It is good but Johnny's guitar playing and singing are less than sharp.....very frail sounding.

I rarely spend money on "brand name" concerts anymore. Way too expensive for the value. I have too much fun listening to local artists at small venues - with the exception of Tinsly Ellis. I recently paid 15 clams to see him and he gave a million dollar show.

Come on ....you guys have to respect the King...B.B has more soul in his little finger than this whole board...everybody grows old ..doesn't mean they lose their soul in the process..
we should be honored to get to see these guys while we can....loosen up and let the mojo enter your body.. :D
