I once owned an early 90's 212 Blues Deville. It was loud enough, no question.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

agreed, but adding more cabs to solve a no PA problem won't help.

If you don't have something like this, get it:
http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... ps-sellers

Getting your amp off the ground and up and tilted back means your ears, not your ankles will hear. I have a smaller one for my Princeton, and tilt-back legs on my Fender Bandmaster - great investment.

PA doesn't have to be a big investment. Buy used, and you can get away with 1 powered speaker, like a Mackie SRM450. Get it up on a stand (horn should be about head level) and then you can get a small Mackie mixer - the 1202 has four mic inputs and are cheap used, but work. I have a larger PA setup, but for rehearsal we run keyboards and 3 mics into an old 1202 into 1 of my QSC HPR122i's up on a stand. So buy used, stay mono, and your dollars will stretch further.

No money for PA? no problem. In high school we used to practice and would plug a mic (with a matching impedance transformer) into the normal channel, guitar into the other. Didn't sound great, but worked for rehearsal.

If it were me, I'd spend the money on an amp stand and a PA before getting another cab. Avatar, Lopoline and many others make cabs all day long and eBay is full of used cabs. There will be one around when you need it, but I think you'll find that with the amp stand, your amp will seem way louder than it ever did.

Have fun, good luck.

Hope this helps.

Before spending a lot of money on tubes, look at a speaker swap. If the amp has inefficient speakers, it will break up earlier at lower volume. Substituting in a more efficient speaker, you'll get louder cleans.

Suggestions: Weber, Warehouse, Scumback. I'd call/email them, tell them your tonal goals and budget and they can recommend some great stuff.

You may want to retube with better tubes, but changing your speakers will get your louder cleans much faster. As will an amp tilt back stand.

Happy to help. On gigs where we have a good PA and sound team, I can gig with my Princeton Reverb (or once, with the Mini Z) with the amp up off the ground tilted, a good mic on it, and plenty loud enough.

Good luck, and enjoy.
