Hey folks:

Just took delivery of a new Princeton Reverb 65 and at a moderate volume in either jack, on the E-A-D strings of my jazz box, I'm getting a noise which sounds like rattling of a china cabinet as a bus rolls by, but at higher frequency. It's quite noticeable. I checked that all the tubes were seated and even ran the amp without the silver guards in case one of those springs was wonky, noise is still there.

I'm playing totally clean with a Washburn J3 and even tried it with my 68 Tele and there I got the noise on the E-A strings. Seems like below a certain frequency and at a certain volume, the noise is there.

Other than that, below a certain volume (which is barely enough for practice) the amp is fine.

Should I return it (such a pain to ship), get warranty service (and hopefully just replace a tube)?

Thanks!

It could be mechanical such as a screw unscrewed making possible some vibrations. However a microphonic valve sounds better to me according to your description.
At last, I advice you to bring it back to the dealer for warranty repair or change.
:)
