hi, I am a happy owner of a DRRI and I have noticed now that when I finish playing it using my les paul and go to turn it off and reach for the standby switch it is hotter than usual, I just wanted to know if this is normal?

Yes -- unless you happen to notice that your power tubes (V7, V8) are red-plating.
