Hi aghud,

Yes, that's one use for it. The "Preamp Out" is exactly that, the preamp section of the amp for an output to another amp, or PA, or effects input, etc. The "Power Amp In" can be used by itself as an input, bypassing the amps preamp section, or used as the return from effects. If the "Preamp Out" is used by itself, the amp is not affected at all. But if you use the "Power Amp In" by itself, the preamp section of the amp will be disabled (volume, tone, input jacks).

ok ..thnks !
this is what i had planed.. i get my supersonic twin next week.. i want to use the send and return as a boost for the vintage channel and use the other loop for a tc elctrnc g major, (or similar) the only thing is matching the volumes..so this shpould work then ?? i mean if i use the pre /pwr amp in out i can still use the front end of my combo ???

The Preamp In and Power Amp Out "loop" will be in the circuit all the time, whereas the Send and Return "loop" is switchable. As for matching the volumes, the FX loop (send/return) has a level adjustment for the send and also one for the return. I just explained how the Pre/Power loop works, so again, yes, using both pre out and power in as a loop will allow the preamp section of your amp to still function. You should get a manual with your amp that explains this also.

thank you very much ! :D

Hmm ..after thinking about this for a while it might not be a good idear ..maybe a boost in through the front end might be better and just use the normal send /return.
how tollerant is the front end .. :?: ?? i seem to have no luck with amps thus far, i seem to fry the input by sending to much gain into it via multi fx boards eg the vox tonelab se.. ha ha that has just killed my crate vt 212 (60 watt all tube ) and before that i killed two peavys..   i have a fender blues delux which i play str8 ..its sounds sooo cool that way. its the only amp i have left thats healthy.. thats why i am buying the supersonic twin.

the twin reverb had a bombproof front end i hope this baby has too !

once again thanks for you time for my querys
Tony,,

I agree, I have the HRDlx, similar. It is possible to over-do-it with effects, on any amp, the tubes can only take so much. For effects, some may work better in a loop, and some may work better up front. The time based ones (echo, delay, etc) might do better in the pre/power loop, and distortion in the switchable send/return loop, and maybe an OCD or Fuzz pedal in front. I expect the SS Twin to be one of those amps that doesn't need a lot of added effects, let us know how you get along with your new one. :)
