I just changed all my preamp tubes and now I am getting this weird rumble kinda distorted low end sound whenever a play sustained C, C# and D notes especially on the 4th (D) string. Has anyone ever experienced something like this? What could it be?

It was the speaker on BDRI that made kind of distortion on certain notes. But it could be also a valve that is microphonic.

If it happened after swapping tubes then most likely the culprit is one of the new preamp tubes... it's either microphonic or has a rattle, it has happened to me and it only did it on certain notes. You can tap each tubes and listen for any rattles or microphonic noise, or you can replace one tube at a time to find out which one is causing it.

+1

Simple logic -- cause and effect.

Yes this has happened to me, only it was a 6v6 and a weird harmonic on "D". Switching tubes stopped it. I bet in a tube amp most problems come from the tubes! :)

It looks like it was the speaker... disconnecting the internal speaker and connecting an external speaker eliminates the weird sound.

Check the screws holding the baffle board to the cab's interior cleats and snug up any you find loose. Then check the fasteners holding the speaker in place (do not over-tighten these though -- a quarter turn past "finger tight" is all that's required).

It could still be tubes... hooking up an external cab eliminates a lot of the vibrations caused by the internal speaker. Follow Arjay's advice first and see if it helps.

Ah, took it to the tech finally... they couldn't find anything wrong. All the the tubes looked find and everything was intact but the sound wouldn't go away. They finally changed each tubeone by one and tested the sound. It turned out to be the output tubes. Now it sounds amazing... put in a new weber ferromax speaker and I am loving how it sounds!
