I performed the Fritz Mod myself in about 20 minutes. I installed some NOS RCA gray glass 6v6s when one stock 6v6 developed a strange harmonic on "D". That's it. The tubes are not matched and are about 18 and 15 on the bias scale. My amp came with a Celestion Blue.

Use caution with this speaker -- it's only rated for fifteen watts.

Diming this amp will likely cause you grief.

Arjay

I haven't had a problem with it. Since Fender thought enough of the speaker to send the amp out of the factory with the Blue on board I'll assume it can take it. But I haven't had the amp past 7.

I can't understand why Fender would put that speaker into an amp rated around 22 watts...you always want the speaker to be rated higher.
I agree with Arjay.

Beats me. The Celestion Gold would've been a more logical choice.

My DRRI is in the shop getting the Fritz mod done and getting biased.

V-1 and V-2 are now NOS JAN Phillips 5751's
V-3 is an EH 12AU7 (Experimenting with this one)
V-4, V-5 , V-6 are Tung-Sol 12AX7's
V-7 and V-8 are JJ 6V6S's
V-9 is a SovTek 5AR4

hey chet, im not sure a 12ax7 in v6 is recommended, i thought or believed that a balanced 12at7 belongs in the phase inverter.
maybe retro or cedar will chime in
