whats up all. some of you may have seen my post a while back about tone.
anyway. i took the advice about buying a good amp and have been doing my homework. recently ive found that alot of my favorite bands use either vox ac30's fender mustangs or bassman's. the tone im looking for is that of the foo fighters, jimi hendrix, queens of the stone age etc... also with the option of an extremely clean channel. i play a mex lonestar delux and an ltd les paul copy but i will soon be adding a semi hollow of some kind to the family... so recently the amp that has been heavy on my mind is the vox ac30.. do you all think im on the right track for the tone i talked about... do you recomend any effect pedals, amps, guitars to help me get the right tone?

thank you so much and keep jammin!!!!!!!!

What kinda "very clean" are you talking about? I'm not sure a Vox AC-30 will play super clean---like a Twin Reverb or Super Reverb. I'm not familiar with Mustangs or RI Bassman (I assume you mean the reissued one).

My guess is the Bassman RI would have the cleanest tone potential. And maybe one of the Mustang series---setup correctly. The Vox-AC 30 is going to be LOUD (this the RI or the original)? But those EL84 compress the tone. Unlike the 6L6GC Fender usually uses.

Mustang series seems a lot cheaper and more available. Maybe best to TRY and find a semi-quiet store to test out the tone ranges of each model.

As for pedals---that's a whole new can of worms. Maybe tryout a Yamaha Magic Stomp Processor?

It would be hard to get a Hendrix tone from an AC 30 so maybe your best bet would be a Mustang or some other hybrid amp such as the Marshall modelling amps or the Vox AD and Valvetronix hybrids that have an actual 12 AX7 in the power amp section to give an authentic tubelike warmth to its tube amp models.Owning vintage Fender and Marshall amps I can vouch for the Vox model's authenticity.BTW they also have a deadly effects bank also.

just got home from Georges's music with a 2010 hot-rod Deville. I'm about to go mess around with it and see how it works with my playing style. as of now, i have 30 days to decide if it's the amp for me. do you know anything about the deville?
