I've had my Blues Deluxe for 2 or 3 years and I've just replaced the preamp tubes in it because they were mic'ing. When I turn the amp up abit for gigging or practising there drive channel's light goes out and the volume goes really quiet, you can still hear it if you listen carefully. After a minute it fades back up to the playing volume again. I've discussed it and people seem to think it's a problem with the solder joints that's leading to the power loss. Is this most likely the problem and is it expensive to fix? Thanks, Osh. :)

Cold solder joints are a distinct possibility -- not an expensive fix, but very time-consuming to isolate and repair.

Use caution when "wandering around" an exposed amp chassis. Be sure to unplug it and discharge the filter caps first.

You should have given him a different answer this time.

Isn't this what you would call "back-door-ing"?

Check R85/R86 5W resistors integrity or solder joint or broken tracks.
