I have a tweed Hot Rod Deluxe that sat on a soaked carpet for a few hours. It's all dry now, but there's a water stain around the bottom of the amp that looks pretty ugly. Any idea if it's possible to clean this?

Sorry if this has been addressed already - I'm new to the forum.

A tough one for sure, Jim!

You might try repeated washings using 409 spray cleaner diluted 1:2 with distilled water. Allow to dry thoroughly between applications. Gentle use of a soft nylon-bristled brush may be of some help.

The main problem is the organic component in the linen -- in this case, cotton -- which acts like a magnet. And saturated carpeting has a tendency to bleed the color components of its dyes when soaked.

Best of luck, HTH

sounds like a candidate for a shellac job.
It might hide the stain if it won't wash out.

Lacquering the cab *might* help conceal a stain. But the tweed should be as clean as possible before proceeding since whatever stain remains visible will be forever locked into the linen.

I used to be a partner in a carpet cleaning company and was certified by the IICRC in a ton of stuff. We specialized in high end goods for the rich and famous. What happened is called "Browning". Most times it can be easily corrected. Sometimes diluted vinegar will fix it, we also used peroxide. Sometimes you need what's called a "Browning Treatment" or "Coffee Remover"

Be careful and wear gloves and eye protection. Be sure to test it in a spot that won't be seen like the bottom of the amp and allow it to dry. There are many browning treatments just Google them.

Hope this helps.
