I'm not parroting anything. Go ahead and put a two ohm load on your PJ.

The decision was made to use two 16 ohm speakers wired in parallel.

The question now is Greenback or Cannabis Rex (or what else). I read good reviews on
both. I'm thinking either would sound great comparing a 2x12 cabinet to one stock 10" in
a tiny package.

What to buy and why?

For this amp, 8 ohm rated, a speaker load of 4 ohms would be within a 2 to 1 ratio, while 2 ohms would not.

I'm not putting you down or making fun, just stating the fact that you are repeating what you've heard, yet you do not really understand what you are saying, that is the definition of parroting, and that is exactly what you are doing.

If I'm a parrot than you have flat feet and you are a duck. You design and build amps? You have some major electrical back ground? Have you ever heard of something called ohms law? Go ahead and run the "not designed for" four ohms. I really don't care and wish you the best. Enjoy. I'm one of the strange ones who runs an eight ohm driver on my 94 PJ. Have a swell day!

I have been successfully repairing amps for over 15 years, and have had my own business doing so for about 7 years and counting. I am a Certified Electronic Technician, have a degree in electronics with an industrial electronics specialty, and have been working in the service industry for well over 30 years, in particular with electronics and controls.

Yes, very familiar with it, and actually first learned about it in High School, some 35 years ago. Not that you'll understand, but applying Ohm's law to AC is not quite as simple as it is with a DC circuit, and of course the output of an amp is AC. A tube amp in particular does not develop full power out unless the impedance of amp and speaker is "matched". Above or below a matched impedance (within reason, hence the 2 to 1 rule), the amp will put out less power, due to the tubes' characteristics and the way that they interact with the output transformer and connected speaker load. Use too high an impedance speaker with a tube amp, and bad things can happen, up to and including a blown OT.

Myself, and other forum members, and actually many pros, routinely use their amps with mismatched impedance with zero reported problems due to it. I often wonder if many of the older pros on the forum even ever worried about what the impedance of the speaker was that they used with their amps, or even if they new anything about it. :?: They certainly have stated that they didn't worry about things like matched output tubes, balanced phase inverters, proper biasing, and other things that we care about these days. They were mainly concerned about tone, and not about the science involved. In fact, there isn't even one thread on this forum about any problems with an amp due to a safe impedance mismatch.

I do indeed have flat feet. Quack!

Now, about you, and your lack of knowledge about electronics? We'll start with the apparent fact that you know Jack Squat about electronics. (see what I did there, JACSTRAT ----> Jack Squat?)

So, you can learn some things if you pay attention and quit squawking about things that you don't quite understand.

Boy you told me off! I feel so much shame. I feel so penitent as I post this, really I do! I bet you play better than SRV and Hendrix also! I'm not worthy to post on here anymore. I will sell my Pro Junior and take up another hobby. You're so awesome!

Cute remark! I guess you must have become tired of playing with the Bruce Z blow up doll homie! I believe he is the cat that designed the original PJ as well. I could be wrong on that. I'm no amp tech but, I can change speakers and properly wire them. I can change tubes and properly bias them as well. I know a little basics in electronics. I'm excellent at other things that brought me a healthy living in the past. I just don't find any joy in boasting about it. I'm learning more all the time in regards to analog tube amps. I don't have the room for big old train sets. Those are pretty bytchen, I dig them. I was into the HO scale when I was in elementary school a little while back.

Chill dude!

You asked, and I answered, there's no boasting about anything. I have a background in electronics, and I know about what I speak, that's all, it's not a big deal.

I would put money on the likelihood that you are a better guitar player than me, so enjoy and have a good one. 8)

Relax attitude boy, that last post had zero to do with you. You see the world does not rotate around you or I. It does not matter who plays good or bad. This is not a competition. You did go on posting a big old thing about your electronic back ground. I say right on to you being knowledgeable on that. I will not be scolded or be posted to like a kid. You don't know me from Adam so I feel it is best not to assume anything. I feel you are the one who needs to let it ride buddy. I swear man, I really mean the best and I go out of my way to leave my ego outside the door. That however does not mean that I can't defend myself. Peace out!

Laying out the speakers; I will make the cabinet wide enough where either my Pro Jr or my Princeton Reverb will fit on top.
