Recently I returned my SCXD. Nice amp and great value, but what I took away from having owned it was that onboard amplifier effects generally aren't the greatest. With the money I recieved back from it, I purchased a Peavey Studio Pro w/ footswitch and an old Maestro Phase Shifter.

The Studio Pro is tough as nails and the clean channel is amazing, solid state or not. Seriously, this thing could handle nuclear war. And at 1/3 the price of the SCXD I don't know why I didn't just gun for a used Peavey in the first place. You can get a used Envoy/Studio Pro/Bandit for $100-$150 all day, and they're rugged like you wouldn't believe.

I also picked up a few things this week:

No, the Guitar World issue did not influence my decision  I was pleased to find that the EQ pedal has a genuine MXR circuit board, just prior to Dunlops purchase of the company. Now I'd like a TU-3 tuner and I think I'm all set for a while. Life is good 8)

my drummer is a peavey nut... so ive messt around on many of their madels, good amps but i found for stage conditions they lack the power even though the bandit is 100 watts or something and the bigger 2x12 also seems a bit down on power compared to my fenders... BUT mabe thats just me....
