Both of these rigs sound great to me! And I have every confidence that if/when I ever visit cedarblues, we'll take these amps to open-mic jam night at The Iguana and I'll be thrilled at the tone regardless of which one he lets me play.

You better be thrilled, you had a lot to do with getting them to sound this good! :D

cedar....reverb is one thing I get frustrated over in my amps,as I'm constantly dropping it lower,it's either too much or not enough, but I rarely get them over 3,also.

My amps stay between 2.5 and 3, anything higher I consider surf music, and I can't play surf

When I have some free time I'll try to record using a mic instead of a camera...
My SF CBS Twin didn't sound sterile either. If it did I would have dumped it. I didn't have it for 30 years creating bad sound.
The SF Twin was only with me a couple of months in the 70's. What a boat anchore. I started to use SS amps after that. I have only come back to tube amps in the last 2 years. I genuinley loath vintage tube amps. I can't bring myself to even give them a chance. CBS really did a number on Fender.

Someone asked an opinion of a pair of amps on a video. I you don't want my opinion, then don't ask.

You have posted your opinion several times and mostly negative remarks. We get it, so why keep it up? Just to try to stir up trouble or being helpful to the OP in some way? I'm confused but by all means carry on with your mission! Have a good day gentlemen!

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I had the complete opposite experience and I feel in the amp department, FMIC did an even bigger number on the brand than CBS with the HRD, VM and Mustang series. I have a 72 Strat that's a great guitar too and I still have it today. There weren't a whole lot of great sounding SS amps in the 70's either. I'd take any SF Fender amp over any of new disposable landfill fodder that's being produced today. My Twin landed in the shop only once in 30 years and that was for a routine cap job. It was only re-tubed once in all that time. My HRDlx spent more time in the shop than it did with me. You seemed to have given the OP a biased opinion because of your loathing of vintage tube amps.

It's ok Hop, I welcome both negative and positive feedback, I'm not the sensitive kind

Nopedal, if you find yourself in FL someday, stop by and hear the amps for yourself, you might change your mind on these SF SR... the digital camera doesn't do it justice.

No need to leave the forum, your feedback is welcome, we all have different tastes, if we didn't this world would be a very boring place! Stick around, there are plenty of knowledgeable and helpful people here.

The only "professional-grade" solid-state amps from the '70s I can think off at the moment were the Acoustics, the Kasinos, and the Sunns......

All of which sounded as sterile as the #1 surgery suite at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.

Actually on some models,CBS produced more Blackface amps than Fender Electric Instrument Co. did,the Blackface Pro Reverb is a CBS model, there are no pre-CBS Pro Reverbs...and that is one fine amp. :D

Cedarblues, some very nice licks and a couple of very nice amps. I've always liked the SR but my 57 year old back doesn't care much for it. I think that's why the DR is about everyone's all around got to amp. Just curious what year is your Super?
