Hey everyone,

I have a few questions on connecting mulitple Amps.

First of all I bought a HRD 112 about a year ago going after a blues tone, and this machine did it. However it was a bit bright butthe tone was there. I then did a bit of research and found a calssic peavy 50 in the local shop used for 300, I grabbed it and plugged it in.
Liking the warmth and tone, I still am a loyal Fender Head so went and pulled the trigger on the new HRD Deville 410 combo. Just got it 2 days ago and is amazing tone. Now not wanting to give up the 112 I connected it to the Deville via the output in jack making the 112 a slave. The 410 controls I think all of the adjustments except the reverb and presence, which is fine.

The questions are has anyone been doing this?, and does doing this remove the useability of the 112 footswitch? and if so how should I set the drive knob

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
David

Hi vikingnose,

Lots of us connect two amps together, either in a master/slave configuration, or in a "stereo" configuration where one guitar connects to two amps. I'm not really clear as to how you are connecting the two amps. :? If you connect the "Preamp Out" of the Dvl to the "Power Amp In" on the Dlx (bypassing the preamp in the Dlx), then the channel switching on the Dvl will still work, but not on the Dlx (foot switch or panel switches), and none of the Dlx controls will work except for reverb and presence. The reverb and presence will still work on both amps independently. If you connect the "Preamp Out" of the Dvl to the "input jack" on the Dlx, then all of the Dlx controls will work, including channel switching, with the Dvl still being the "master" control.

Or, you can use a "stereo" out of a pedal and connect it to both amps, and all controls and channel switching on each amp will work independently. You can also connect your guitar to input jack 1 on one amp, and connect input jack 2 on the first amp to input jack 1 or 2 on the second amp, and this way all controls and channel switching will also work on both amps independently (no master/slave).

Thank you for the clear up, yes I am running the Dvl preamp out into the Dlx amp in, thus removing settings and control of the Dlx. Master/Slave combo

I would assume if I were to run these in stereo mode then I could adjust the settings on the Dlx and have the operating foot switch control as well to better manage my sound/tone,
But I am not sure there is a real benefit to this unless the foot switch on the Dvl will then be active and I can drive the 112

In its current set up would the Dvl also operate the Dlx drive channels?? I need to play with this some more but the tone in incredible
Thank you for your comment I appreciate your time
Take care
