I found out today that Fender is having a supply shortage on 6v6 /5 power tubes so that does explain the part about tubes... sort of.> they also told me that the tubes were sent to the repair shop and signed for this week, so there may be a light at the end of the tunnel after all folks.. but I won't go there yet because I don't have my 65Deluxe back yet....

How can Fender, who owns Groove Tubes, have a shortage when they can be bought on line with no problems?

Good question? I think it is just the 6V6 #5 grade tubes...from what I took from my conversation with Fender MIC Scottsdale today... Yes seems very far fetched I agree, but who knows

Uh, groovenev?

I just noticed in your first post that you bought your amp last Thanksgiving. Tubes only carry a 90 day warranty. It's now late March. Who is paying for the replacement tubes?

Well got the amp back Saturday, new tubes and all. He had to replace screen resistors, main preamp tube, and two power tubes and some other thing. Amp works perfectly now... very nice.

Oh...yeah on that 90 day warranty, I took it in to the shop in January... well with in the warranty. That's how long it was gone...I only used it for an actual 2 weeks given the holiday before it crapped out, but am happy to have it back. I'm crossing my fingers that is keeps a good reliability record from now forward, so I can join the ranks of the confident Deluxe owners out there that have no electronic issues. Fender told me they have a less that 1% failure rate on the amps. I was the lucky-one who got the short straw... LOL o'well... it happens.

I was so excited to get my Deluxe amp back, that I bought a used Vibro-Champ XD from him that the owner never claimed after it was repaired... now that little amp is killer!! I was blown away by the tone in such a little amp...

I think I would probably by a new Deluxe again and recommend it, just this time I would give someone else the $$$ to do the purchase for me with my track record... LOL :)

Glad you finally got it back. Hopefully it won't be necessary, but maybe you should find a new amp tech just in case.

I had pretty good luck trying them out at stores but I'm unsure about how I feel about them after having to return 1 this last week. The first DRRI delivered sounded great until the tremolo channel which had a click/thump that made it pretty useless.

Thinking about returning my second one as this one I can't believe passed quality control. Glue marks, rust on speaker, possible condensation spots. Ugh...

Great amp if A.O.K. but not sure I would go for it again. Maybe Mesa?

It took me 3 DRRI's and the shop to fix the third one the other two I returned to Sam Ash - Still working perfect, knock on wood it is still rocking' and sounds great! ...almost one week so far out of shop.... :)

Take it back- get another one, try your luck on it if your not strapped for time... wonderful amp when its working right ...

How about a PRRI? Is that amp less likely to have problems? Less weight and I heard that the tremolo is problem free.

Not sure on that PRRI ... but guys seem to like them, I personally like the two channels of the Deluxe. I never experienced any problem with the tremolo on any of the 3 DRRI's I had in my possession.

DRRI easily fits, the C6 Vette has plenty of room back there... and my DRRI has a 15" in it :) I can take the amp and 2 maybe 3 guitars with me! Super Reverb needs more room, but I can still manage couple guitars, depending on the case 8)

Curious.
How much modding did you hafta do to fit in a 15".....................And what kind of speaker and how efficient is it?
I've got the emmy Wizard.

Such a conversion is known as a "Spankmaster Reverb" and it requires an all-new cabinet 20 inches tall. I've built six of them thus far -- four for clients and two for myself. One uses a BFRI chassis while the other is a silverface '78.
