I have a 4x12 cab that is 16 ohm mono or 8 ohm Stereo. What is best…
A) connect from extension speaker output directly to the cab set at 16ohms mono
B) disconnect internal speaker in the amp and run a chord from each of the amps outs into each (stereo) input on the cab and switch the cab to 8 ohms stereo.

Hi reyesx6,

Either way will work fine, one way might sound better than the other, try both and see which you like.

For option A, set the amp to 4 or 8 ohms, whichever sounds better, your actual ohms when connected this way will be 5.3 ohms, an 8 ohm is parallel with a 16 ohm (5.3 ohm is closer to 4 ohm than 8 ohm, but close enough for either setting).

For option B, set the amp to 4 ohms, your actual ohms when connected this way is 4 ohms, an 8 ohm is parallel with an 8 ohm.

Check the manual for the impedance setting with various ohm speaker connections.

Edit:
Looks like the combo doesn't have the impedance selector switch, only the head (is that correct?). So, just try both of your options without the worry of selecting the impedance, as the jacks will switch the impedance according to which jacks are used. When using the main jack the amp is set to 8 ohms, and when using both jacks the amp is set to 4 ohms.

It sounds like option B is the safest and most accurate way to do it. Just wondering if having both the internal 8ohm and the 16 ohm cab via the extension output would add up to an ohmage that would harm the amp or speakers?

No problem, no harm to amp or speakers when using both. When using both jacks the amp is set to 4 ohm. Using the internal 8 ohm speaker with the external 16 ohm cab, will give a total of 5.3 ohms, which is very close to the amp's 4 ohm and will work just fine. :)
