I just got the Super-Sonic Twin 100watt combo delivered. The ohm switch is set to 8 but the combo has two 8 ohm Vintage 30s. Shouldn't the switch be set to 4 ohms? Also, if I plug in my egnater 4x12 to the extension Jack, what would be the best setting? The 4x12 has a 16 ohm or a 4 ohm setting.

Ps, although the reverb does have a slight hiss, it is not nearly as problematic as some posts have made it sound. I've owned a blues deville and it has about the same amount of hiss. Thanks for the help.

The net speaker impedance of the two 12" speakers found in the Super-Sonic Twin is 16 ohms (i.e., two eight ohm speakers in series). So, the 16 ohms setting will provide the matched impedance to the Twin's "combo" configuration's speakers.

You will find information in the user's manual to show how to configure it for extension cabinets.

Best Regards,
Sam

A pair of 8Ω speakers can yield only two totals, contingent upon how they are connected: 4Ω (wired in parallel), and 16Ω (wired in series). Inspect the wiring to determine which load configuration you have and set the output switch appropriately. The owner's manual should be consulted for any pertinent data relating to the use of extension cabinets.

Thanks for the info. I thought the setting would have to be 4 or 16, but the selector switch was set on 8 from the factory. So I just wanted to be sure. Thanks for the help.

I'm still confused, the combo has two 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel. Wouldn't that require the 4 ohm setting? The chart in the manual seems genetic because it lists several possibilities for the amps internal configuration. I'm guessing is parallel because there is a positive and negative going to each speaker. If it was series, one positive would come down to one speaker a jumper would go to the next speaker, and then a negative would come from the second speaker back to the amp right?

Sounds like parallel wiring to me.

If true, the output impedance selector should be switched to the 4Ω setting.

My bad! I just examined the wiring more closely and it is wired in series. At first glance, it looked like it was wired in parallel. Sorry for wasting your time. So just to confirm, I've got two 8ohm Vintage 30s in series, so my selector switch should be on 16ohms. If I add my 16ohm 4x12 cab by plugging it into the extension jack, I need to change the selector switch to 8 ohms.

Thanks everyone.

That is correct.

got here from search...

My SS Twin is wired in parellel and switched to 8ohm out of the box.
Reading the manual puzzles me. I think that it lacks the clarity I need to establish the combo's wiring. I'm thinking that the switch should only be moved off of eight ohms if a cabinet is used. I will get the amp out and re-visit the factory wiring of the speakers. I was darn sure I was parallel!

Unfortunately, there's not much to be gleaned from the product description or the specs published on this website either.

:(

I just checked it and it is parallel from the factory. What I will do until I hear if from Fender tech that knows is run it in 8 ohm stock and slide it to 4 ohm when I run it with my 8 ohm cab.
